SharePoint Enterprise, Microsoft’s jack-of all-trades software for common business functions is now available on Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS).
AWS executive Jeff Barr wrote last week that SharePoint Enterprise was designed to meet the needs of many different sizes and types of organizations, including multinational enterprises. It supports custom apps, mobile applications, business intelligence, and advanced content management (none which is available in the entry level SharePoint Foundation product).
SharePoint Enterprise is part of Microsoft Office software suite. According to Wikipedia, SharePoint Enterprise “combines many functions which were traditionally separate applications: intranet and extranet, content management. document management. personal cloud. enterprise social networking. enterprise search. business intelligence. workflow management. Web content management. and an enterprise app store.”
SharePoint Enterprise is now available on the AWS Marketplace. It can help users migrate workloads, including Windows Server workloads, said Barr. Data Resolution, a Microsoft Hosting Provider was responsible for providing the offering.
Barr stated that AWS and Data Resolution have teamed up to offer many options for the new cloud offering. These options include product type, pricing model and user count.
Barr stated that these options offer a lot more flexibility. You can deploy SharePoint Enterprise 2013 Basic on an as-needed basis to support development and testing or to meet the requirements of a project or event. You can also run a larger SharePoint Enterprise 2013 Advanced deployment on a permanent basis. You can choose to have your SharePoint Enterprise 2013 Advanced deployment in one of the three U.S. locations. These options will enable you to address and accommodate success in usage growth without any undue hassles.
Barr stated that users can get a free trial version of SharePoint Enterprise 2013 for AWS Basic “All in One” to get started with the new offering.
